L’Isle sur la Sorgue

Surrounded by two arms of the River Sorgue, the small town of Isle-sur-la-Sorgue offers a peaceful way of life and old-world charm. Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is world-famous for its second-hand goods and antique dealers, and its many restaurants and cafés with terraces on the banks of the Sorgue.

The antique dealers
L’Isle sur Sorgue is France’s second-largest antiques market, with 300 antique dealers on hand to welcome you from Thursday to Monday in the town’s 6 antique villages.
It is also home to a large number of craftsmen and artists’ galleries.
The twice-yearly antique and second-hand goods fair takes place over two long weekends, one in April and the other in August.

The market
The Isle-sur-la-Sorgue market brings the town to life twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays from 8am. to 1pm. You’ll be able to find local items that will make lovely souvenirs.

The museums
Take advantage of your stay in the town to visit the museums:
• Fondation Villa Datris – Located in a delightful private mansion with a pretty garden on the banks of the Sorgue. Entry is free. Open from late May to early November.
• Centre d’art Campredon – Contemporary art centre housed in the beautiful town house once occupied by René Char. It holds 3 exhibitions a year.
• La Filaventure Brun de Vian-Tiran – museum of the town’s still-active textile factory. Discover the 15 stages of production and the industrial heritage of the town of Isle sur la Sorgue. You’ll find out what the waterwheels on the Sorgue were used for.
